Let the Street Fights Begin!
“Yo, I don't hear anything about Greece anymore, what's still going on there?” Usually, I tell them: “Stop sweating me and concentrate on me and my gold Social War chain!” But nowadays, the kid is feeling a little more talkative, so I set up 277 Street Fights the blog to fill you in on all the gritty aspects of the struggle. So to begin answering your questions, basically occupations are the hip new fashion in Greece. Especially in Athens, which unlike Salonica, has never had a strong squatting tradition. In fact, I'm staying at a squat called Skaramagas (which I call Scaramanga after the scientifical Rawkus records rapper) that used to be the mansion of a famous Greek opera singer. On the day the squat opened comrades set up huge speakers and played her rendition of “Carmen.” I shouldn't forget to mention that new squats are popping up in smaller towns and cities despite the government's new measures against occupations. (As if those right wing assholes in parliament could do anything right.) Last week, in Athens, there was a huge anarchist march in support of the new squats. Comrades tell me that the uncharacteristically high attendance for an anarchist demonstration surprised everyone. There has been a ton of new faces after the uprising in December. On my first day in Skaramagas, fascists tried to burn down the banners draped in front of the building. Just like you would expect in Greece, we left the squat looking for the culprits carrying flag bats. Sadly, we couldn't find the Neo-Nazis to kindly ask them if they wanted to play a game of stick ball but it brought back all these fond memories of December's unrest. Yesterday, I saw a friend I met in December and she told me that as glad as she was to see my face, it made her sad because it reminded her of the of the lost insurrection. I'm not going to front either, your man is a little distraught. Last time I got off the plane in Athens, I stepped into a fucking inferno, this time, the buildings ain't even slightly roach clip flamed. Today, Greece feels like a foreign country, but in December, it was a homeland to everyone. Yeah, so what, I cried. I don't care, judge me all you want. Thugs can drop a tear or a thousand and even sob those sobs that inevitably spew mucus everywhere. But, really theres no reason to sit in Exarchia and feel sorry for myself. So, I've been rubbing my snot and all those big crocodile tears on my fists. That's right, packing my wrecking balls with all types of face gunk. So, dig it, when the first street fight jumps off, I'm unleashing all types of swine flu on the pigs the second I start throwing blows. The cops better have their vitamin C game up or they'll be dropping like Hakim Bey's underpants in a pre-school! You feel me? Till the next street fight, ps. I see you San Francisco! |

Yet again it seems the North
Yet again it seems the North American Insurrectionary Anarchists have managed to look like complete tits. Look we all like a good street fight and the events that have transpired in Greece (Especially since Dec.) have been a huge inspiration but come off it man! This fetishization of all things Greek and all things violent...I dont know where to begin. A lot of these texts these days comming from the IA movement in the States are an embaresment (much like my spelling). It reminds me of the movie American Pie. All these kids making a big deal about sex because its the one thing missing in their lives so it becomes some sort of mystical holy grail. Just replace the sex with riots and street fighting and you have the IA scene of the states. Do you realize you are making a complete ass out of yourself and IA ideas? Do you realize that the North American IA scene is a fucking laughing stock in the rest of the world? There is a lot more to IA then this nonsense. Ever heard of this little thing called a Base Nuclei? Why is that always forgotten....ah Im so frustrated I cant even think straight. Sort your life out you fake ass gangster ironic hipster douche bag. Your making the rest of us look bad. BIATCH!
Yet again some whining boob
Yet again some whining boob thinks that there's such a monolith that can be labeled "the North American Insurrectionary Anarchists" who all write and otherwise express themselves with ONE VOICE. As if...
The tendency to idolise the (questionably) exemplary actions of our counterparts somewhere else (you know, the Exoticised Other) is not exclusive to "the North American Insurrectionary Anarchists" -- plenty of other anarchist tendencies do it too, not to mention liberals, social-democrats and fashos.
So quit your whining. Criticise the kind of individualised tripe that is exemplified by this post, but don't tar the rest of your rivals with such a broad brush. Keep it real, not personal.
Usually I would agree with
Usually I would agree with you, but I think this new kid on the block is entertaining.
Yet again it seems the North
Yet again it seems the North American Historical Re-Enactment Anarchists have managed to look like complete tits. Look we all like a good strike and the events that have transpired in Spain (Especially in the 1930s) have been a huge inspiration but come off it man! This fetishization of all things Spanish and all things labor...I dont know where to begin. A lot of these texts these days comming from the HRA movement in the States are an embaresment (much like his spelling). It reminds me of the movie American Pie. All these middle-class kids making a big deal about work because its the one thing missing in their lives so it becomes some sort of mystical holy grail. Just replace the sex with work and paid union organizing and you have the HRA scene of the states. Do you realize you are making a complete ass out of yourself and HRA ideas? Do you realize that the North American HRA scene is a fucking laughing stock in the rest of the world? There is a lot more to HRA then this nonsense. Ever heard of this little thing called propaganda of the deed? Why is that always forgotten....ah Im so frustrated I cant even think straight. Sort your life out you fake ass artsy-fartsy ironic hipster douche bag. Your making the rest of us look bad. BIATCH!
well done.
well done.
You managers who revolt hate
You managers who revolt hate nothing more than "a good street fight" unless it's thousands of miles or dozens of years away from you. Did you criticize the fetishization and radical tourism of the Zapatista fans so harshly?
You are correct that there is a definite shortage of riots and street fights in the US.
Did you take a global poll on "International Opinion on North American Insurrectionary Anarchist Texts and Attitudes"?
Sorry that non-white culture and people offend your vanguardist, frat boy sensibilities.
I guess you fancy yourself some kind of primitivist with your aversion to spell check?
Well looks like I stirred up
Well looks like I stirred up quite a shit storm. I think its fair enough to not paint all IA's in North America with the same brush and I guess I should have been more clear. If someone would have said the same things that were written in the post to me I would have laughed my ass off, but alot of the postings I read from people I would imagine to get along with in person just twist my balls in the wrong way.
I am heavily influenced by IA (I wont call my self one because it seems a fast track towards making IA an ideology) so im not making my critique out of some sort of ideological position. Im just tired of people not presenting their ideas in a serious way. I dont expect people to be robots either and fucking around is always a good laugh but I feel that when one writes in a way like this post it just makes us look ridiculous, not charming or funny just ironic and sad.
PS the snide remark about being non-white is rather presumptious not to mention smacking off guilt ridden identity politics nonsense.
Word hommies
Dit
The snide remark was based
The snide remark was based on me knowing and loving the author of the blog that has you so upset. I wasn't sure if the Tipper Gore-like attitude towards the hip-hop subculture is motivated by the mistaken notion that the punk rock subculture is superior or it is way to vent bigotry.
If that's how the author chooses to express them self, what do you care? Who do you think is reading that who needs to impressed. I'd rather have people think every anarchist was like that rather than some preachy, dreadlocked vegan on a fixed-gear bicycle with a sticker declaring it to be a pipe bomb.
It was presumptuous on your part to presume that it was written by some ironic hipster.
Why the hell should
Why the hell should everyone's writing be "serious"? What is wrong with someone just having a good time. And how does this blog entry make "us" look stupid? Who the fuck is "us" anyhow? If someone isn't expressing themselves the way you like, you feel it is constructive or pertinent to throw a temper tantrum huh? But listen, if you want to start shit storms don't be surprised if you get end up smelling like shit in the long run.
what's the deal with tearing
what's the deal with tearing everyone down? If you have some better ideas on how to organize for revolution and the nuances needed to be kept in mind to get it all to work out , go on pontificate, let us know how you feel it is,Surely being disrespectful and insulting is not the way to have a discussion or build solidarity or convince anyone of anything positive that they could use.
just saying
comrade
I don't even know who's
I don't even know who's criticizing who anymore. What a clusterfuck of insults being thrown randomly around.
nah, i know who is
nah, i know who is criticizing who, figure out how the comments work, it'll be much easier on you, if you do.
everybody go to aa: all
everybody go to aa: all anarchisms, all the time. street fights? i'm down. general strikes? i'm down. federations of anarchist collectives? i'm down. primitivist attacks on coporate state animal abuse labs and condo developments? i'm down.
the only one that i'm not down with is the "anarchist" who thinks he has the single truth about how to bring down capitlaism and the state. the one person or group who has the one truth? sounds like "arche" to me, not an-arche.
keep it all coming.
hear, hear!
hear, hear!
That's what I've been saying
That's what I've been saying for a while, I'm so sick of having to take sides, and if I disagree with one then I'm lumped in with another.
At best its annoying, at worst, its the lamest COINTELPRO shit yet.
word up!
word up!
totally! destroy! we make! -
totally! destroy! we make! - Yod@
If they do have the one
If they do have the one truth on how to do it, it better be well explained and I would like to see a good example before I buy it.
But yeah, one path does abolish capitalism and the state (The one that does the deed and gets us free) I'd like to know it and be down that path right quick.
Philosophy is so heavy, I have to remind myself that as Anarchists, we are problem solving in the real world with trial and error one combo at the right time and conditions has to work, Humanity made these obsticales (read authoritarian structures/relationships) to begin with.

This text really shows how
This text really shows how anarchism and the anti-capitalist struggle has turned into an individualist subcultural self-glorifying scene. Its nice for this kid to have fun and writing about it, i dont mind reading it. its even kinda entertaining, but at the same time DAMN! I'm wondering what he's trying to do in greece? Have a good time? Help the revolution? Join in with the 'fun'?... So lame.
