2 Anarchists Arrested In Italy Were Preparing Rail Attack (Subsequent Crack Down On Sympathizers For "Subversive Association.")
-------------- From www.iol.co.za Rome - Italian anti-terrorist police arrested two alleged anarchists early on Friday as they were about to sabotage a railway line in the north-east of the country, a spokesperson said. The official said the pair were caught on a bridge over the line between Orte and Ancona in a stolen car which contained home-made metal grapnels. They were intending to throw the grapnels across the overhead electric wires, causing a short-circuit, he said. Following the arrests police mounted about 40 raids on sympathisers of the group to which the two belonged and charged 37 people with "subversive association." Italian police are on full alert ahead of the G8 summit taking place in central Italy from July 8-10 which will be attended by 39 foreign heads of state and government. Six people have been arrested in recent weeks on suspicion of planning an attack on the G8. |

it's a rogue menace.

actual analysis: well even coupat himself said it was folks from germany that probably did the attempted attacks in france. so i am sure this is a tactic probably used my more militant left groups.
also if you've ever read this type of news from europe before anarchist/squatter/autonomen/leftists/hooded youth all supposedly mean the same thing...
at least that's how it is always portrayed. who cares about the specifics of their political affiliation. if they are young and scrappy got that subcultural look or whatever they must be one of the above.
i just figure this because often greek papers and other international papers will say revolutionary struggle is an anarchist group when they are clearly reformed from members of november 17 and probably marxist-lennist.
but i guess we'll see.

I've often wondered what the
I've often wondered what the true effects of saboutaging train lines would actually be. I mean, it does seem an effective way of preventing "business as usual" but I find it curious that there has been such an emphasis on trains in Europe. You would think there would be government and corporate targets more crucial to those in power than public transit. Are there far-reaching consequences of subway saboutage to those in power, or is it pretty much to prevent people from getting to work and keeping the dreaded economy running?
Hoping the Italian

these are not matters of
these are not matters of abstract choice. the individual human wheels and pullies of a civilization grow sick of the chains and the "great campaigns" and the monuments to murderers. they resist. the resistance breaks out in many forms. all they're thinking is how to fight off the state and their allies--police, courts, prisons, the rich, the bankers and traders, etc. in doing so they grow closer to each other and some of the primal, tribal elements reappear along with their common connection to earth (which civ also detests). what comes next? a newer, more powerfully ruthless civ? a space of liberation for some time? a reinstitution of a more ruthless order at home? what comes next is not uppermost. these are fighters against an ugly and despicable present. the future is unwritten, but the tumor is now.
