I am completely deaf and am wondering if there is a transcript of your episode available? Thank you.

I do not like when podcast hosts express emotion. It makes me uncomfortable. It's preferred when they are emotionless voices.
Good episode otherwise. 8/10.

Hi chisel,

Please don’t ever change. Your aura of barely contained irritability and reluctant tolerance of everyone and everything is endearing and appealing (10/10). As a young, aspiring podcast host just learning the ropes, I look up to you, but I’m trying to come across naturally so I’ll stick to an affect of glib self satisfaction peppered with thoughtful moments of contemplation. Maybe I can afford some private podcasting lessons once the patreon bucks start rolling in? Think about it.

i believe the original poster was talking about when i got teary, which we can all agree is unprofessional and womanly behavior unsuited to any public performance that desires to be taken seriously in today's highly competitive workplaces.

(although perhaps anon wasn't talking about me at all! oh noooo)

My mistake, I should probably have listened to the whole episode before commenting. Getting teary under the circumstances is understandable. Fuck, I got emotional reading the text by Greg that was posted over on fedi and I didn’t even know them. Don’t buy into the co-opted toxic masculinity inversion that is girl boss culture. Thanks for the reply and clarification.

may sometimes be too dry for the future of humanity.

seems like ruin didn't get the joke. #sad

We are living in the post joke age, nobody gets the joke anymore

so his "humor" just wasn't compatible with jokes in general.

Kundera was definitely apolitical and not into communism at all. His whole deal is being against systems and systematic thinking. Kinda weird to call him a left, you obviously haven't read his work or are incapable of close reading

Probably some woke liberal college "educated" hipster! I bet you could kick his ass.

He is a Czechoslovakian conservative self-indulgent writer who is amused by and/or ponders bourgeois morality, insatiable sexual appetites and love amongst the elite intellectual class whilst totally unaware of the inherent privilege which allows for these ramblings.

Indeed. If he were woke and aware of his privilege, he would undoubtedly have nothing more to say and self-immolate on the spot. Check your privilege, all who dare!

Czech yours!

"the joke" is the only Milan Kundera i can recall in any detail, fittingly enough. i'm sure i read "the unbearable lightness of being" when it was first published, because it was popular.
but other than his anti-bureaucratic tone, i was (at that time) unaware of his politics.

anyway, his wiki seems to imply that, in his early novels, he was exploring the similarities & differences between totalitarianism and utopianism, and that, to me, is an interesting question.

Congratulations for a "fascinating process" via podcast. God DAMN you folks are generous.

I'm genuinely impressed.
