Anarchist Alliance-DC Network and Chesapeake Earth First! march on Inauguration

From DC Indymedia:

Shortly after noon on Jan 21, Chesapeake Earth First! and the Anarchist Alliance-DC Network staged an anticapitalist march on the inauguration and its bag search/grope checkpoints out of McPherson Square.

Chesapeake Earth First! was there to remind Obama and his supporters to STOP building the Keystone XL in Texas, never approve it crossing the Canadian border, and stop supporting other destructive industries such as fracking and MTW.

The Anarchist Alliance-DC Network was also present, with a message of "don't vote-organize" on the grounds that politicians like Obama are bought and paid for. One person said Obama's 2008 primary campaign had been funded by investment bankers who did not want Hillery Clinton in office. I can't vouch for that statement without examining the FEC documents, but given Obama's deference to the banks on mortgages and CEO bonuses after bailouts it seems plausable.

The march wound it's way through crowds and police chokepoints before protesting in front of a bag search checkpoint on 7th st. Protesters stayed there and educated the crowd, making no attempt to pass through the checkpoint. Next, the march pushed all the way to the "siege wall" surrounding the parade route, before finally disengaging to join with Idle No More's traditional "Round Dance" in Dupont Circle.

Hey Obama, listen to us... You better leave the system intact, only pass authoritarian measures like the Kyoto Protocol! Our role as ecological activists is to put the pressure on the state to pass laws restricting things! We shouldn't destroy all current existing social relations, take back space, and articulate other ways of being outside the logic of the commodity!

... the point is to guilt them into changing the world for us.

If Obama stopped the pipeline I would be both happy and still a non-voting anarchist.

This seems like the most reasonable, mature reaction.

Keystone=eminent domian

The whole fight in Texas against Phase III of the Keystone XL has centered equally on the global desruction it would wreak and the extreme use of eminent domain by TransKKKanada to sieze people's land for the pipeline.

TransKKKanada probably learned that habit from the way their tar sands mining buddies treat Native people living near the tar sands strip mines. The Lakota have compared the pipeline to the railroad if it ever forces its way across their land.

This is about STOPPING two governments from stealing some people's land and poisoning more people's water in the name of profit. Both governments are racist setter governments that have not ONCE hesistated to forcibly relocate or murder Indigenous folks for land, for gold mines-and now for uranium, frack oil (North Dakota) and tar sands oil (KKKanada and elsewhere).

If the US and KKKanadian governments were overthrown, both armed Native warriors and armed Texas folks would forcibly prevent TransKKKanada from trespassing on their land with this dragon pipe, and the climate catastrophe tar sands oil could bring about would be averted.

If Obama, et all won't stop the pipeline, people affected by it WILL. The REAL message of Earth First! on the pipeline is "we can do this the easy was or we can do this the hard way!"
