CALL FOR PAPERS: Fourth Annual North American Anarchist Studies Network Conference

<table><tr><td><strong>New Orleans, Louisiana - January 4-6, 2013</strong>

<strong>Deadline for Proposals: November 15, 2012</strong>

The North American Anarchist Studies Network seeks participants for our fourth annual conference, which will be held in New Orleans, at the Zeitgeist Multidisciplinary Arts Center and surrounding venues. We invite those engaged in intellectual work on anarchism, either within institutions such as universities, or beyond institutional walls, to share their ideas and insights. We wish to create an atmosphere in which there is a friendly dialogue regarding topics that might help us expand our knowledge of anarchist thought, practice, and history. In keeping with the open and expansive spirit of anarchism, we propose no specific topics for discussion. Rather, we encourage participants to explore diverse themes, from the historical to the contemporary, from the practical to the utopian, according to their own knowledge, interests, and imaginations. We hope that this conference will, to the greatest extent possible, represent a broad spectrum of anarchist theory and practice. We encourage submissions from all theoretical, experiential, cultural and geographical perspectives. Send your proposal, including a short abstract, a working title and three keywords that describe your project to the NAASN Organizing Committee at: clark@loyno.edu. For more information on the North America Anarchist Studies Network, see our website at www.naasn.org <http://www.naasn.org/> . We look forward to hearing from you, organizing with you, and learning from you! Please distribute this call widely.</td><td><img title="fuck. shit. up." src="http://anarchistnews.org/files/pictures/2012/handhippo.jpg"></td></tr></...

Bourbon street! Disney land for grown ups! Brotastic neo-colonial tourist slave city a la Havana 1950s with Mickey Mouse ears and mardi gras beads for all! Woooo!

City drowning in blood.

Assuming the intricacies of New Orleans can all be summed up by the tourism of Bourbon Street, it still beats the hell out of your boring fucking city!

Most prisoners in US per capita?
Cool city bro! Keep that insular, blinders on defensiveness! Seems to be going well!

Cool evidence bro

sure is, sis: "Send your proposal, including a short abstract, a working title and three keywords that describe your project to the NAASN Organizing Committee at: clark@loyno.edu." See that email address? Know what it means? Evidence enuff for meeeeeeeee.

It's more than evidence. It's a pattern. pouring energy and attention into acedimia diverts energy from the grassroots, and it gives the state material and experts that enable better resistance to anarchy. Lets take the words off the page and put them in ears, real time, with people together. That is, outside of exclusive academic confrences!

The conference has no academic connections at all. It is being held at Zeitgeist Multidisciplinary Arts Center, which is an amazing independent film and culture center. Its motto is "something for--and against--everyone." All the work is being done by local anarchist volunters. We have no outside financial or other support from anyone. We agreed to do the work of organizing a conference for several hundred people because it is something we believe in. We are supplying free housing with volunteer hosts for anyone who needs housing. We are also going to supply free breakfast and lunch for two days and childcare. We are hoping that a $15-25 sliding scale, optional, registration fee will cover our expenses. We could use support rather than disinformation and groundless attacks. Several committee members have loyno addresses since they have either worked at or been students at Loyola. It's OK if you do not approve of us for that, but it has nothing to do with the conference. If anyone has real problems with the email address they can also use surregionalist@bellsouth.net, if that does not show unacceptable endorsement of the telephone company.

I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. I bough anarchy at an auction last Tuesday.
