Charges Filed for the May Day Vandalism

From The Stranger - by Brendan Kiley

King County prosecutor Dan Satterberg has filed charges against five individuals for participating in the May Day smashup. Charging documents accuse five of riot, fourth-degree assault, and malicious mischief "against the peace and dignity of the state of Washington."

The accused are: Phillip Neel, Kellen Linnell, Meaghnn Gonzales, Matthew Erickson, and Jason Michaels. Two have priors for crimes such as marijuana possession, obstructing a police officer, and harassment. Three have no known priors.

Police identified the suspects by articles of clothing and tattoos that showed up on camera footage, officers' reports from May Day, and search warrants of the suspects' homes. Officers also received some anonymous tips and say they recognized some of the suspects from Occupy protests. Officers also say they gleaned information from cell phones and other electronic devices that were taken and searched.

These charges are not part of the current federal grand jury that is ostensibly looking into May Day, and Emily Langlie from the US Attorney's office says she has "no idea" whether the five might be called before the grand jury.

It has also come out, in documents filed in October, that FBI agents followed some Portland activists up to Seattle where they participated in May Day demonstrations.

Just wonder how many of these folks will get dumped by the so called revolutionaries. Seems support is very conditional. Also who taught them how to be incognito? No one? Figures.

Posting comments against snitch apologism makes you a cop.

everyone is a cop its basically just a situation of all of us trying to catch each other out committing the crimes that we ourselves are supposed to be enforcing

Vampires are manarchists. They need to check themselves.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

manarchist vampires are usually attractive FBI informants and if we're not careful they will sleep with all of us and then send us to prison

Getting some hot manarchist vampire love almost seems worth a stint in jail...

Slow motion infiltration? So you have no idea what is going on do you? Low level surveillance, this shit is not as big as your paranoid brain is trying to make it.

Cultish group think? What are you even talking about?

These people are job creators for the criminal justice system the prison industrial complex and the construction companies who repair the damage.

In response to the roll-over text: No, these indictments are a result of the King County investigation of things that got smashed OTHER than the courthouse. The grand jury resisters are in prison as a result of the federal investigation into the federal courthouse that got vandalized.

Black Bloc will only come in handy when everyone else realizes the time is now to burn everything down. Our efforts are worthless in the morning if everyone is still showing up to work and school. Corporate American lives on no matter how many buildings you destroy in one city and there aren't enough of you to burn down every bank and corporate chain in the united states or stop the firemen from putting out the flames. You guys are on a losing battle front. Why even protest if most people won't stop working for the system. If their survival depends on their compliance, doesn't that mean we're fucked and all of this smashy smashy is just a temper tantrum of venting steam. If it was a real revolution where everyone started burning stuff then it would be worth the risk of ruining your life and possibly ending up in prison. With most people ignoring the black bloc, there is no chance in hell of political prisoners being broken out. Breaking anybody of jail in a revolutionary situation never the less would be ugly, BLOODY ON BOTH SIDES!

How far are we really willing to go and if not all the way are we just posturing?

Don't know about the rest of you but I never used the black bloc only to vent my feelings of resentment but also to display on tv how to act when the systems got you down. It never did anything. People just move on about their daily lives.

Unless some unforeseen force out of our control interrupts everybody's daily routine of drive to work, slave away for money, consume, watch tv drink beer sleep wake up and repeat, THERE IS NO HOPE TO CHANGE ANYTHING!

is that so

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

when has anything EVER changed or evolved without "some unforeseen force out of our control?"

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

In short, burning shit down unless it becomes a means to an end, for everyone, it is just pointless.
