Oakland Attack on OPD Vehicles in Solidarity with Grand Jury Resisters

<table><tr><td>From <a href="http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2012/08/02/18718755.php">Indybay</a>

Before dawn on August 2, 2012, we covered the windows and windshields of 2 unmarked Oakland Police Department vehicles with glass etching fluid, as well as slashing all the tires of one of the cars. We also covered the door and 5 windows of the nearby OPD recruitment center with etching fluid. The windows of the recruitment center had boards behind them due to being attacked when the Oakland Commune encampment still existed, but the glass was still accessible. These targets are located at the North end of Oscar Grant Plaza, where the Oakland Commune materialized last year.

We did this to coincide with the first day of the grand jury in Seattle, and to continue our struggle against the forces of the State and Capital at home. Even when overt social conflict seems minimal, there are always targets lying in wait. (Also, who needs a reason or something to react to....fuck 'em!)

For the destruction of this prison society. May the spirit of revolt spread, from Anaheim to the Bay to the Northwest.
For the silent ones.</td><td><img title="Separation of state and mind

Respect and support from Ohio to you guys in Oakland. We are behind you and will be on the rise very soon as well. :)

Fuck the new stadium. Fuck the Nets. Brooklyn. Solidarity. Fuck bots.

Solidarity means attack. This campaign of repression is meant to silence people and to scare them into compliance. The best response is to increase attacks, and to communicate that these efforts by the State will only increase the frequency of attack. Be smart, be safe, and fuck shit up!

Utmost love to all those acting in solidarity. It's our greatest weapon.

more please

>The best response is to increase attacks, and to communicate that these efforts by the State will only increase the frequency of attack

This is infantile. Do you really think the state cannot handle a few isolated acts of petty vandalism? We need a mass movement, not desperate impotence.

There's nothing wrong with a few isolated attacks of vandalism in between any larger events.

There's nothing morally wrong with vandalism but there's nothing strategically correct about it either. At best it is an unnecessary risk and at worse it feeds regular people's sense of powerlessness.

If you're willing to take the risk, and you're not risking anyone but yourself and the ones willingly involved, why not. There's always going to be arguments for and against issues and tactics like vandalism, just as there always will be the insurrections and the pacifists arguing tactics. Wish it wasn't that way, but I say let everyone go about it how they see if as long as we're all in the big picture together. Anyways, differences in opinions aside, regardless of any named cons of actions like such, doesn't mean it's ever going to stop, doesn't mean it won't always be rad to see something fuck up that state's day, even if just in a minimal way.

The actions of a few can have an impact on the possibilities for the rest of the movement. The political blowback from petty vandalism hits everyone in the movement, not just the vandals. It's irresponsible to the broader movement, undemocratic, and fundamentally to discount this.

okay lenin.

some of us take the project of revolution seriously. By your non-response, I can see you don't.

pretty sure u be trolling. if not, how's that "seriousness" working out for ya?

fyi just so it's known, the person defending the idea of vandalism and the person making the lenin comment aren't the same.

Vandalize everything, everywhere, if you feel like it.
If you don't, don't. Sorry if the yuppies don't like it, sorry if you care what they say about it. Sorry I'm not sorrrryyy

I don't care what yuppies think, but I do care what the majority of the 99% we still haven't won to our side think. If you're serious about a revolution, you should too.

The hell are you smoking fool?
The majority of the so-called "99%" in north america ARE fucking yuppies.
Pull your head out of your ass and maybe then we can "take revolution seriously" together.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Who exactly is paying attention here? And who specfically are you trying to communicate with?

It would be nice if you tried something of direct relevance to people who have to support themselves by working for a living. But they aren't ever really your intended audience, now, are they?

IOM (imitation of me) score : 4.2

"It would be nice if you tried something of direct relevance to people who have to support themselves by working for a living."

i have to support myself by working for a living and totally agree with the poster you're responding to. So what now?

Nice try, Keating.

Signed, an anarchist subculture snitch.

unrelated completely, but picture is second image from top in this link: http://fantasticpictures4u.blogspot.com/2012/01/unbelieavable-images.html

This is a "strategy" borne of impotence, and if you think more and more people are going to follow suit, or that this method will accomplish anything whatsoever, you're dreaming. Grand jury resisters need a political mass movement, not futile acts of petty vandalism.

Insisting a mass movement is the answer to every question is the epitome of ideological and philosophical poverty, but it does show you to be insufferably leftist. Well done!

Telling yourself that glass etching fluid will do anything to aid those facing political repression is self delusion. Good luck with that!

Mister Grumpy is an irrelevant subculture specimen.

I agree with the following:

"This is a "strategy" borne of impotence, and if you think more and more people are going to follow suit, or that this method will accomplish anything whatsoever, you're dreaming. Grand jury resisters need a political mass movement, not futile acts of petty vandalism."

I've seen a few banks and such attacked in Ohio by some Anarchists, they are starting to make moves there somewhat. Don't see how that hasn't got any News coverage or anything on here either.

Hey, whatever happend to the so-called "Precarious and Service Workers Assmbly"? I'm hard up for some free yogurt.

You fucking idiots.

If you're gonna commit an act of insurrection, it is by definition illegal whether or not it was an effective or inspiring idea. Bragging about doing it on a public forum (or claiming responsibility anywhere, for that matter) is self-serving and moronic. And you know what, breaking windows just allows them to point fingers; if you're going to risk incarceration, you could focus on acts that actually damage their usable property, like slashing more tires or, if it seems worth it, other things which would decommission the whole car.

From what I understand, there are relatively safe ways of posting communiques anonymously. I'm not tech savvy enough to do it, but the whole point of these actions is obviously symbolic. It's meant to inspire others who feel the same way and to break the illusion of order and normalcy that the State tries so hard to preserve. Think broken window theory in reverse. If a window breaks in the middle of the night, and no one hears it....

The problem is, nobody outside of a tiny number of subculture denizens is paying attention to this; it doesn't resonate with their everyday life needs.

Yes, it's nice to hear about some cop vehicles being vandalized, but context is everything. A scene that never generates any sustained, credible, public, collective efforts to assert what subcultural scenesters claim to be about in the larger society outside of subcultural-scenester-land is going to get repressed without anyone knowing or caring.

Hary Potter fans who break windows are still just Harry Potter fans.

your argument is invalid. your critique based on subculture is way off the mark.
