From Anne Boyer

or aphorisms on the incendiary accident of claire fontaine

1. how much more difficult to insist there is not inside or outside of a gallery when one has been inside a gallery which one has had to flee because it is on fire

2. vice versa also

3. those who deny an outside are always those who are not dying from exposure to it

4. those who deny an inside should be locked in its peril and see

5. burn not the map, but the territory

6. or if you must burn the map, be stupid and unsafe about it — “we would never have permitted this”

7. the abolition of art can only occur through accident

8. intentional abolition of art is only more art

9. the right relation of artist to city is for the city to fiddle while the artist burns

19. even the trace of a crime against art is more interesting than the art itself

12. the last words of nero are our first words

It's cute you have a personal blog, Anne. You're so self-expressive!

This article is such a complete pile of garbage. Why does bullshit like this get posted and other articles with relevant news about anarchists in the past have been rejected?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

what was relevant? im just wondering what a person who has the time to write such a pointlessly negative comment thinks of as important.

Articles about the Cleveland 5 were rejected in the beginning, because it was unclear as to whether they were really anarchists, despite them all obviously being crust punks and not right-wingers. Various articles about prison uprisings have been rejected. A May Day propaganda action in a major city on the same level of many other actions posted on here was rejected.

Shall I go on or do you get the point why it angers some of us conscious of these editorial choices being taken that a complete pile of garbage like the article above would be posted?

My email address is worker@anarchistnews.org. I'm happy to discuss these topics (and stories) with you. If you'd like to write a denouncement piece about anger and garbage I'd be happy to post it.

....so this makes them anarchists. It looks like that one anti-immigrant crust punk I used to know was an anarchist the whole time.Who would have thunk that is what makes a person an anarchist.

Its well-known that art wankers Claire Fontaine basically makes tons of money out of art inspired by the early Tiqqun work they were part of and are effectively pacifists, while the actual theoreticians who sided with the Black Bloc are now under terrorism charges in France. And Claire Fontaine hasn't done shit for the Tarnac 9.

Fuck artists who make money out of re-cuperating revolution and mistake their grubby search for cash and fame as revolutionary. Fuck artists. Particularly Claire Fontaine.

you sound like you think you know a lot about the situation, but it's pretty obvious that you don't.

Marxist hobbyists typically make better writers than our lot....this is cool though

Why do so many Marxists love Tiqqun and The Coming Insurrection ?

I wonder if the author of this piece is aware that the fire wasn't an accident?...

Unless there's sarcasm that I'm missing, it seems like they're trying to make a critique with the idea in mind that there indeed was an accident when there wasn't...so...this is potentially a bunch of fluff about nothing.

I do like what they're saying though about contesting the idea that there is no inside or outside to an art gallery. The gallery can easily be substituted with capitalism or the state.

Capitalism has shaped nearly everything about this world, but this still does not mean that reality itself is capitalist. Similarly, just as the state can be found interjecting itself in nearly every facet of life, it does not mean that reality is statist. They are merely obstacles to our becoming; devices deployed against "anything happening", technologies of rule, governance, etc.

Work on your reading comprehension. It's a dire problem, and explains a lot.
