In 2021, due to the worldwide pandemic, the Anarchist Bookfair Collective has decided to host an online Bookfair. Working with the podcasting radio collective From Embers (visit them here: https://fromembers.libsyn.com) we will be producing a series of interviews covering such issues as Indigenous anarchism; anarchist perspectives on Afghanistan; activism against prisons; policing the police; defending old growth forests, anarchism and the arts, and more!.

We expect to launch the 2021 Victoria Anarchist Bookfair on-line in early October. Stay tuned!

The 2021 Anarchist Bookfairs List

teaching birds to read = civ

From Freedom News UK

In 2020 real-life anarchist bookfairs were, sadly, largely out of the question and very little happened which wasn’t virtual, including in Dundee, Edinburgh and London which ran extensive showings. This trend continued into the first half of the year, with the recent Edinburgh Anarchist Feminist Bookfair putting on an excellent event on May 29th-30th (viewable here, and recommendable for podcast-type listening if you’re into that sort of thing).

Edinburgh Anarchist Feminist Bookfair: Recording of “Jewish Anarchists” Panel

On Sunday, May 30, I was joined by the lovely mensch and brilliant contributors to my latest edited anthology, There Is Nothing So Whole as a Broken Heart: Mending the World as Jewish Anarchists (AK Press, with design by Crisis studio) for a workshop at the, alas, online version of the Edinburgh Anarchist Feminist (yes, feminist!) Bookfair!

Pivot to Spanish

nature is a language, can't you read?

From The Anarchist Library by anonymous, ex-Montreal Anarchist Bookfair Collective

What follows is a very inflated argument for the first of three proposals[1] I had for the development of “language policy” with respect to the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair. When I started writing, the intended audience was no larger than the other people who make the book fair happen, i.e. members of the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair Collective (MABC) and a slightly larger circle of volunteers and friends. I began writing in the spring of 2020, before the 21st iteration of the book fair on May 17 of that year, although I had drafted shorter texts on much the same theme in earlier years, also for a readership within the collective and the next innermost circle of collaborators. Most of the writing was done over the summer of 2020, after the 2020 book fair was over and, more importantly, after I decided that I wanted to leave the collective, which was at some point in early June.

Welcome to the 2020 Anarchist Bookfair in London

From London Anarchist Bookfair

We wish we could be together again this year to meet old comrades and foes, conspire, educate, organize and plot in person, but due to Covid-19, this event will be held online from Saturday 17th October to Sunday 18th October 2020.

We did our best effort to facilitate our collective's first anarchist bookfair, and to try and make it accessible and inclusive online.
