Sean Swain’s 10 Year Radio Anniversary

sean swain to the streets!

From The Final Straw Radio

Sean Swain is an anarchist prisoner who’s serving an indeterminate sentence in Ohio for a self-defense killing. Sean has authored 3 books (one co-authored with Travis Washington) and released an album of his music (with collaboration of a number of artists) while behind bars. Sean is also a dear friend and collaborator on The Final Straw for 10 years, now. We’re sharing here a conversation Bursts had with Sean Swain to mark the 10th anniversary of Sean’s (mostly) regular segments on the show, You Are The Resistance.

Sue Jeffers has Passed Away

From Burning River Anarchist Collective
January 4, 2023

We're heartbroken to report that Sue Jeffers had a massive stroke and did not survive.

Sue was a friend, comrade, mentor, anti-war activist, anarchist, folk singer, a pie-throwing Mad Anarchist Baker, thorn in the side of the establishment, part of the May 4th Taskforce at Kent State, and a kind, wonderful person. Her dedication and commitment to fight for a better world continues to inspire.

Report Back on NYE Noise Demo

from It's Going Down

Report back on NYE noise demo in so-called Cleveland, Ohio.

On New Years Eve 25 anarchists, abolitionists and other rebels gathered outside of the (in)Justice Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio for the second annual New Years Eve Noise Demonstration hosted by Forest City Anarchists. This event is called every year to both highlight the horrors of the so-called criminal justice system and to let those inside know that they are not forgotten.

Sabotage in Solidarity w/ Anarchists Prisoners

Rail disruption in solidarity with imprisoned anarchists

From June 11th

Rail disruption in solidarity with imprisoned anarchists

Using copper wire we sent false signals on five sets of freight trains tracks around Cincinnati, ideally delaying or stopping all rail traffic that day. We want to acknowledge the sacrifice of imprisoned anarchists and our desire to halt industrial society.

Getting the silent treatment again…

via Sean Swain's blog

ODRC Fears Swain’s Reason

Sean Swain is being silenced by the Ohio Department of Retribution and Corruption again. In a classic move of an abusive, one-sided relationship, ODRC Director Annette Chambers-Smith (former General Manager of Payment Services at dastardly prison profiteer JPay Inc) and her underlings are overseeing the shut-out of JPay (the monopoly communication and digital media choice of many state prison systems) email and GTL phone services for Sean Swain with no explanation. Remember, while Sean is a prisoner IN Virginia, he is a prisoner OF Ohio (in exile).

TOTW: Anger and enmity

Kent State, Ohio, 1970

Growing up, I would usually read the newspaper everyday. I remember leafing through it, reading the articles, looking at the photographs and how much anger it often caused me to feel. My teenage brain frequently had trouble understanding how people could be so terrible to each other and everything around them. The news was exasperating and helped to cement my growing ideas as an anarchist. In this topic of the week, we’re looking at how anger and enmity have impacted your anarchist ideas.
