Walking away is always an option—provided you can manage it. And where anarchist history is concerned, I have often recommended that option to those without the patience to do the walking in circles necessary to establish a more fruitful relation to the anarchist past. But it's hard. I feel like I've spent twenty-five years and become an "anarchist historian" in large part just to be really free from a certain kind of "anarchist history." And, if I had to choose, sharing the old stories is a hell of a lot of fun, but sharing some of that freedom is a whole lot better. A lot of what's in the "Rambles" is stuff I would rather share with friends over a beer, but maybe some of that "just kickin' shit around" flavor still comes through in this format. We'll see.

"Étiquette" is, I think, a "false friend" in this situation. Armand seems to be talking about labels, rather than what we think of as etiquette. But I'll give it some thought, and if I can make a coherent reading of the piece using "etiquette," I know just the upcoming sequence it would fit into.
