Italy: Updates on anarchist prisoners

From Anarhija dot info

“Prometeo” operation: Natascia was transferred to the prison of L’Aquila and started a hunger strike
The anarchist comrade Natascia Savio, arrested on May 21, 2019, for the “Prometeto” (“Prometheus”) operation (together with Giuseppe and Robert), was transferred from the Rebibbia women’s prison in Rome to the prison of L’Aquila, precisely in the same section (AS2, “High Surveillance 2”) where are imprisoned Anna Beniamino and Silvia Ruggeri, on a hunger strike since May 29th. Also in June she was transferred from the prison of Gradignan, near Bordeaux (in France), to Rome Rebibbia, where she was imprisoned for a few days and where she began a hunger strike in solidarity with Anna and Silvia. On 20 June it became known that she was transferred to L’Aquila, so the comrade is actually imprisoned under the same conditions and restrictions imposed on Anna and Silvia. Solidarity with Anna, Silvia, Alfredo, Marco and Natascia on hunger strike!

On Guilt & Innocence: A Response to Arrests Following Hamilton Pride

It’s been a very intense and revealing week since Hamilton Pride. We helped our friends heal, debriefed our strategies, and circulated as much information about the people who attacked us as we could. The videos and statements have gone viral, the outrage is visceral. Homophobic white nationalists attacked Pride, they were confronted by a huge group of queers, the police did nothing and then took credit for stopping the attack, the mayor backed the police despite hundreds of witnesses, and the homophobes walk free.

Trouble 20: Inside-Out

From Submedia

Prison is the foundation of state authority and the anchor of capitalist social relations. It’s the baseline threat that coerces us into accepting a daily regimen of exploitation and abuse. It’s a shrine to power and a monument to futility. It’s cameras, motion sensors, and walls of thick concrete wrapped in concertina wire. It’s an ongoing experiment in regimentation and psychology. It’s a sweatshop run on reclaimed slave labour. It’s a forced separation that rips up families and tears loved ones apart. It’s the last shitty stop before you’re deported back to the life you fled. It’s a sprawling job site, where unionized guards earn a living by keeping human beings in cages. It’s a sterile time capsule, where individuals are kidnapped from the present and thrown into limbo for years on end.

Update on Eric’s Attack and situation

From Support Eric King

We have word for what went down with Eric at USP McCreary. On Friday may 13h the BOP’s attempt to send Eric to the CMU or communication management unit was rejected (his SMU or special management unit transfer request had been rejected 2 months prior). The BOP attempted to send him to these high security specialized prisons as a consequence for being attacked by a lieutenant and guards at FCI Florence, but we all can see it is a consequence for his continuing to speak out against the BOP and federal prison system. Communication management units are used to place prisoners in an incredibly isolated situation to severely limit communication with the outside world. These prisons are described as torture and deprivation by those who have experienced them. The special management unit is where the BOP sends the most “violent” prisoners in the federal prison system. They decided that he deserved to go to either of them though he didn’t qualify. They threw everything they could at him and it didn’t stick.

Italy: Declaration of Anarchist comrades Silvia Ruggieri and Anna Beniamino on beginning a hunger strike in L’Aquila prison

From Act for Freedom!, 29/5/2019

A few minutes ago the first hearing regarding the occupation of corso Giulio 45 took place in the Court of Turin. SILVIA was present from behind a screen via videoconferencing and announced the beginning of a HUNGER STRIKE for herself and for ANNA both of whom are imprisoned in L’Aquila. The objective of this struggle is to fight against the conditions they currently face – comparable to those of the 41bis prison regime – and for the closure of the section where they are being held. They need ALL OUR STRENGTH. In the meantime the rally in front of the court continues:

Madrid, Spain: Antiterrorist operation against anarchism

From Act for Freedom Now!

Solidarity with the imprisoned anarchists

On the morning of 13 May a new antiterrorist operation against anarchism struck in Tétouan (a Madrid neighbourhood). The anarchist space La Emboscada [the ambush] and another squatted house were raided by members of la Brigade d’information and the anti-riot police. The operation resulted in two arrests. We bear in mind the Pandora, Piñata, Ice and the one that is still keeping Lisa behind bars.

Solidarity with Detained Cuban Anarchist and LGBT Activists

From Black Rose Anarchist Federation, Posted May 11, 2019 at 8:30pm EST

Havana, Cuba – Following tensions around the cancellation of the state sponsored LGBT march and the effort by activists to call for an independently organized one, two anarchist and LGBT activists, Isbel Diaz Torres and partner Jimmy Roque Martinez, are believed to have been detained by Cuban authorities. The detentions are seen as an attempt by the Cuban state to suppress and intimidate outspoken activists whom they see as leaders and vocal activists in the LGBT community in Cuba.

Italy : Text letter by Anarchist comrades Anna, Silvia and Agnese from inside l’Aquila prison High security section

From Act for Freedom!

CHRONICLES OF A JOURNEY AND LANDING IN THE KINGDOM OF L’AQUILA

Early wake-up call Saturday 6th April: 3 of us are transferred to L’Aquila from the AS2 section (high security) in Rebibbia prison in Rome. In practice the AS2 section in Rebibbia was shut down in the days following our transfer and may have been converted into an AS3 section given the overcrowded conditions for prisoners accused and/or convicted of criminal conspiracy – Art. 416 of the Italian penal code (a similar thing happened in March 2017 when the entire female AS2 section of Latina prison – communists and anarchists – was moved to Rebibbia and later converted into an AS3 section).

Indonesia: Post-May Day Update and Call for International Solidarity

From Abolition Media Worldwide

Palang Hitam / Anarchist Black Cross Indonesia has temporarily ceased activity due to problems with a former member who misused international donations. At present there is no anarchist organization supporting those facing repression, so support is being provided spontaneously and individually. Here is an update about the situation in several cities.
