We circulate this call out for Alfredo to receive more postal correspondence and we understand that it is also within the framework of the International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners, set from 23-30th August. Never a day alone, the anarchist hostages will endure, we’re always with them. Destroy the prisons.
Please, spread widely!
In order to break the isolation to which our anarchist comrade Alfredo Cospito is currently subjected through an almost total ban on mail, we call again to write him postcards and letters. This new callout to write him is also due to news reaching us from the Bancali jail where he’s held prisoner: Alfredo deems extremely opportune to keep on sending him correspondence, even unregistered, even just postcards, with or without sender’s address… If an avalanche of mail arrives, it’ll be more work for the screws working at the jail P.O.
We evaluated that registered mail sent to him is not as necessary as it has been so far, given that over 30 pieces of such mail have been blocked: on this subject, the Surveillance Magistrate must pass sentence: he’s obviously taking his sweet time (lawyers tells us it is standard procedure at the Bancali jail).
This coming Sept. 14th. there will be a hearing about the “compliance judgement” against the Bancali prison: the magistrate is asked to determine whether the jail authorities are respecting an authorization given to a prisoner, in this case Alfredo’s access to the library, which had been authorized but never really happened. If the judge rules in favour of Alfredo, he will have to designate a different officer to ensure that the authorization is complied with.
We also embrace the proposal coming from the comrades of “S’Idea Libera” in Sassari, to further develop the attempt to sabotage one of the isolation measures aimed at Alfredo: after the summer, make a fresh start and give continuity to the coordinated sending of letters and postcards in the long-term period, so that Alfredo’s screws know he will never be abandoned!
SOLIDARITY INITIATIVE WITH ALFREDO AGAINST THE MAIL BAN
Regarding the mail censorship, block and ban situation against Alfredo* currently detained in 41bis regime in Bancali jail, we’d like to share this proposal: in the past there have been many different occasions in which, individually or collectively, there have been attempts to break the isolation through correspondence. Now, we deem important to keep hammering at this and thought of an initiative to support Alfredo in the long term period, in order to gain some impact or at least trying to.
Every collective or singularity wanting to join undertakes to send at least 7 postcards to Alfredo in a given week. The more people join, the more we’ll be able to guarantee a prolonged mail “coverage”.
We propose to:
1. each collective or individual confirms their availability to: evaliber2@inventati.org within September 1st, 2025.
2. On the basis of said availability, we shall come up with a calendar so each collective or individual will be assigned a specific week during which to send the mail to Alfredo thus ensuring continuity over time.
Alfredo’s mailing address is:

* Alfredo Cospito is an anarchist comrade jailed since 2012. Initially arrested and sentenced for kneecapping the CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, is now serving a 23 years sentence issued in the “Scripta Manent” trial, with several others comrades. After being appointed to the 41bis prison regime (Spring 2022), Alfredo started a 6-months long hunger strike against 41 bis and life sentences without parole which, also thanks to the energetic international mobilization accompanying his initiative, has brought forth to the attention of public opinion the aberration of this prison regime and the death sentence represented by life sentences without parole.
Alfredo is still locked up in 41bis regime in the Bancali jail (Sassari, Sardinia, Italy), and the proceedings for a possible renewal of this condition will take place next Spring. The goal of 41bis is clear: the physical and psychological annihilation of the people ending up in it. In Alfredo’s case it stands out a progressive limitation of the already next to zero possibilities for survival established for this particular prison regime: a two-way ban on correspondence, no access to prison library (he had been previously authorized by jail direction), total ban on books bought in bookstores through jail (as provided for in 41-bis regime) and on other goods and items of daily use, such as flour or clothing.
