<table><tr><td>Three suspects spotted by police in a mechanical crane on a side road off the Egnatia Highway in northern Greece yesterday jumped out of the vehicle at a police signal, jumped into a car parked nearby and fled, police said. At one point during the chase that ensued, the suspects stopped the car and reversed into the police patrol vehicle, immobilizing it, before fleeing, police said. A subsequent search of the abandoned crane turned up several tools usually favored by burglars. Police said the suspects might have been planning to steal a bank ATM.

Hundreds of activist organizations had their internet service turned off last night after the US Chamber of Commerce strong-armed an upstream provider, Hurricane Electric, to pull the plug on The Yes Men and May First / People Link, a 400-member-strong organization with a strong commitment to protecting free speech.

Seattle: Three police cars and RV set on fire

<table><tr><td>Three Seattle police cars and an RV that's used as a mobile precinct were torched early Thursday in a city maintenance yard, according to police.

Just before 5 a.m., city workers spotted a suspicious-looking man walking through a parking lot at 714 S. Charles St., where police, fire and other city vehicles awaiting maintenance work are stored, said police spokesman Detective Jeff Kappel.
