Welcome to the Rust Belt!

From Upstate Anarchist Book Fair

Join us for the first annual Upstate Anarchist Book Fair held on May 4-5, 2024 at the PM Press Warehouse in Binghamton, NY(21 Emma Street, Binghamton, NY 13905). In celebration of International Workers’ Day, the two-day fair will feature book/zine vendors, a warehouse sale, community organizations, two full days of panels, live music from the loading dock, and much more. All are welcome to join us in creating community, sharing skills and passions, and debating the best way to overthrow the (patriarchal, racist, cis het) capitalist system.

Call for Proposals (May 4-5, 2024)
The first Upstate Anarchist Book Fair is seeking proposals for panels, panelists, workshops, and skill shares. We seek artists, organizers, authors, troublemakers, and DIYers to submit ideas as part of a full day of radical discussions and activity. The event is designed to engage people who are new to radical politics and those long in the struggle. As such, we welcome a wide variety of topics. Suggestions include: Anarchy 101, Anarchist/radical history/practice, social reproduction, anti-racism/combating racism, global anarchisms, mutual aid, housing activism, models of organizing, accountability in organizing spaces, transformative justice, global solidarity/solidarity over state borders, DIY projects, sustainability/ecology and/or green anarchism, anarcha-feminism, queer organizing/practice, security culture, radical/anarchist art projects, and radical spaces. We particularly encourage people who are in working radical formations (broadly conceived) or radical spaces to participate as panelists.

Submission Process:
To put in a proposal please fill out the accompanying form. It is requested that proposals be no more than 200 words. If follow up is required someone will reach out to you. In the submission process, please note if you would be willing to take on the role of a panel facilitator/organizer.

Submission timeline:
People submitting panel ideas will be notified on a rolling basis of acceptance. But we will be accepting submissions until March 15, 2024. We will do our best to ensure there is a full, diverse and vibrant selection of topics covered by panelists throughout the day of the book fair. We will work with people putting forth submissions to find the best space/venue/platform to facilitate their participation.
