"Organizing Against Racism" -- but, not against capitalism.

So, you can be comrades with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Condoleeza Rice and Clarence Thomas, right?

please, please, please tell me that the gang at ROAR are not merely Anti-Racist IdPols. please, please, please, someone who knows about them and their project tell me something positive about them and why anarchists should be happy to have them as co-sponsors

when i was trying to decide where "identity politics" began and ended. It wasn't so much much of a result of marxism as it was of hitler, because he was the first popular ideologue to come up with a codified and structured form of racial hierarchies i believe. Correct this if i am wrong...

as far as ROAR is concerned, their only ideological content for the upcoming bookfair can be found here, just seems like standard rag to me, i don't see what anyone who disagrees with them would find pleasurable or interesting about attending this event. Seems like all the descriptors for solutions to "the problem of oppression" have already been decided on and there is nothing further to discuss:

i just feel like hitler is what painted the modern conception of "the white supremascist enemy", and yeah he loved the US and "our" wink-wink slavery. It's funny how a lot of these terms just keep getting lumped together to resurrect the same further-left strains of thought, as if every type of laughable prejudice imaginable is "the racists", pontius pilot washed one hand with the other, to get all poetic and stuff. Hitler was more about the Jews and Communists, but he certainly co-opted the hatred of "the blacks" as well. White normativity is such a pervasive thing, it literally can't be cleansed from professionalism no matter how hard liberals try.

maybe "centering your feelings" about hitler isn't how history works, little snowflake

hitler claimed he got his ideas from the americans, who got their ideas from european colonialism's weird social experiments, all of which were mostly about tricking people in to suicide missions across the atlantic, followed by relatively grim survival prospects in the "new world".

think of it as similar to the first few waves of suckers that elon musk sends to mars. they'll tell themselves all sorts of stupid things while they're on the spaceship and they'll mostly have a bad time, then die.

oh please, PLEASE let that be prophetic!

Where did you get the idea that Hitler claimed to have gotten his ideas from Americans? Iirc his views were fully formulated in his head at least 5 years before he started pandering and expressing his admiration for the various things the Americans, British, former Ottomans/Turks, and Soviets/Russians have done and/or were doing.

here ya go "Timtroll", not cuz I give a fuck what you think or because I believe you will be persuaded but for the same performative reasons you're asking a bad faith question! Here's an article with some sources for anyone who's curious!

Another answer would be, this is now considered common knowledge for those of us who fuck with historical materialism. Not that I only use "marxist" history but it usually beats the hell out of the silly mythological gibberish that reactionaries tend to use.

While it's important to emphasize that anarchist events and projects aren't and shouldn't be safe spaces, that organizers' statement reads like it was written by the liberal hacks at Agency. There are clear, implicit references to internal anarchist conflicts that devolved into physical confrontations at previous book fairs (Bay Area and elsewhere), but naturally enough, no mention is made of the people/projects who initiated the altercations or those who were targeted by the self-appointed anarchist cops working to maintain their own particular boundaries of Acceptable Anarchist Discourse (tm) through intimidation and interpersonal violence. These cops are those anarchists who are threatened by critiques of Identity Politicians (usually themselves and/or their mascots) and eco-pessimism as well as eco-extremism. The book fair organizers already know who these disruptive bullies are, so I hope they will keep an eye on the vigilantes.

I wouldn’t pin it down to Hitler but he was definitely a co-factor. What you saw was a convergence of ideas that was geared toward 20th century pan political identity that included a unified racial construct. The two afro dudes I mentioned in my other post were also co-factors.

There’s definitely a connection. Du Bois was a big fan of German Volkishness and he brought that political cultural poison to African culture. Marcus Garvey was a BIG fan of Mussolini. You can’t talk about the Afro side of identitarianism without talking about those to assclowns. It’s come full circle with Richard Spencer being a fan of Garvey.

I’m actually hoping the right and the left switch places in regards to identitarianism as part of this coming 21st century realignment. This would be better for anarchism as the 20th century was basically a Marxist Communist Fascist lost cause.

but as dead Fred Perlman would say, ‘who hasn’t been oppressed’? It’s part of the leviathan history and civilization merry go round. The current huwhite dominant stock were seen as low class barbarians at one point. One needs to look at the 10000 year picture not the selective 500 year one.

All that aside, the global south side of things including the enslaved part are not innocent as far as the rise of 20th century pan-ethnic identity goes. Afro, Jew, Euro they all got their ethnocentric identity freak flag on.

On a long enough timeline everyone was basically oppressed therefore we can excuse more modern oppressors or dismiss the current oppressed because 10,000 years ago something, something.

Don't complain about your treatment now because 10,000 years ago your ancestors were terrible.

Beep boop.

why stop there? you know how shitty early hominids were to each other?! and single cell organisms?! and what about when all the galactic dust was forming the stars?! SO violent!

What in your pea brain logic makes you think I'm excusing this? My whole point is that non-white 'color' identitarian ideology is CONNECTED to the white western stuff you idiot. Du Bois and Garvey are textbook examples.

Tim Wed, 03/23/2022 - 10:16

Have you ever heard of that rapper Daylyt? He expressed that the identitarian stuff is explicitly tied to the whitey western shit. I know Marcus Garvey was outright influenced by the white id-pol folk of the early 20th century, like the KKK, Nazis/Hitler, Mussolini, and fascism in general. I'm not so sure about DuBois since I haven't read much about him or his own ideas

I'm back after reading some more about history and discovered that a dude called Tutankhamen was the first identarian leader, so maybe YOU should read some more history mmkay!?

So basically the signal anarchist event of the San Francisco Bay Area is now run by typical Bay Area race trumps all other concerns leftoids.

anon (not verified) Mon, 03/21/2022 - 07:58

What gets called anarchism in the U.S. is always a limp tail wagged by a left-wing of capital dog. In this vein, see also IGD, whose posturing is pretty much this year's model of incoherent early 1970s New Left Mao-fan perspectives.

I am Makhno (not verified) Mon, 03/21/2022 - 08:59

Is the Bay Area Anarchist Study Group, which puts on the BASTARD conference, going to be included in this event?
