Uncovering Chinese Anarchy Part 2: Mohist Activism and Yangzi’s Individualism

In this part, two distinctive alternatives to Confucianism will be examined. As the opening quote suggests, in the time of Mencius, almost a hundred years after Confucius lived, these alternatives had become concerning challenges to Confucius’s way. We have no way of knowing how exactly prevalent these tendencies were, but that they were considered a threat points to the diversity of thought operating in China at the time.

Change the World: Have Fun, be Creative

From Fifth Estate, # 415, Summer 2024
by Norman Nawrocki

Imagine if more people believed in the power and the magic of collective creativity, what a crazy wonderful new anarchist world we could build. Under capitalism, any form of creativity is usually seen as an individual pursuit, the domain of the rich, the elite and artistes. It’s something to be commodified, re-packaged, and sold back to others as pop culture to be consumed.

Get Noah Comrade Kado Coffin Out on Parole Sooner

Kado is in the texas GIST unit and will complete his probation program on december 12. Now the problem is that paperwork then has to be filed so kado can get out on probation. I have called and talked to the office to confirm that guards can drag their feet and take their time so the paperwork if they are trying can take 1-2 months who knows how long if the guard is in a bad mood. So once that paperwork is done Kado gets out on probation. So He would really appreciate a phone zap to encourage the guards to finish the paperwork in a timely manner.

You are the good cause

From Freedom News UK

None of us can live an authentic, total anarchism in a capitalist world. Taking that world onto your shoulders and expecting to be able to carry it is a promise to be crushed and broken. As activists, our goal is to transform the world-devouring system into something more creative, not to perfect ourselves within that system.

An Institution, A Person, A Spirit

From Surviving Leviathan with Peter Gelderloos

I realize how most of the people who have dedicated their lives to the building of an anarchist movement have disappointed me, some gravely, while the people who have brought an anarchist praxis to some aspect of real life and survival have inspired me the most. In the worst moments, they’ve even kept me alive.

Stop Camp Grayling!

From The Final Straw

This week on The Final Straw, we’re sharing a chat that Scott had with Smirk, Wink & Nudge of the Stop Camp Grayling Offensive, an anarchist effort to oppose the doubling expansion of the largest military base on Turtle Island, based in so-called Michigan. For the hour, the militants talk about the ecological, social, economic and other potential impacts of expanding the military industrial complex and this counterinsurgency training ground in particular.

Anarchist Bookfair workshop supports call for celebration of all the “Aggravated Activists”

Participants at a workshop organised by Netpol at this year’s Anarchist Bookfair in London have supported a proposal to take on, own and embrace the new police label of “aggravated activism” – by proclaiming and promoting 15 February 2023 as Aggravated Activist Day.
