Anarchist Detained and Threatened with Deportation

From Abolition Media - Belgium

Anas Hmam is an anarchist activist, committed to the struggles against colonialism and racism, in particular for the Palestinian cause, in Brussels. He has been detained in a closed centre for undocumented migrants in Belgium for almost a month and a half. He is threatened with deportation to Morocco, where he risks being arrested because of his anarchist political commitment. Initially imprisoned in the closed centre of Bruges, he was transferred on 16 August to the 127bis closed centre in order to isolate him from the revolt movement that took place last week, of which he is accused of being one of the “leaders”.

A week in the life of a zinester (bookfair, little free libraries…) + Lavender Witch mini-tour

From Echo Zines

Here is a little blogpost with some snippets from my life as a zine maker: things I do that are related to zine-making but also other creative things. It’s just a glimpse, a week from my life, only the things I wanted to share. It starts from the Anarchist Bookfair in Ghent (Belgium) on May 17-18th and ends with a mini-tour of my band Lavender Witch on May 23rd-25th. It all happened in the scope of 9 days so it seemed perfect for a little diary blogpost.

Belgium: Complex Anarchism Symposium, May 19-23

From Centre Leo Apostel

With the upcoming Complex Anarchism Symposium, we will be exploring the intersection between anarchism and complexity science. Anarchy, despite its popular definition as a state of disorder, is rather a mode of being where we organize ourselves voluntarily, that is, without coercion from a central controller or hierarchical system. During the symposium, we aim to apply and explore the interplay between these practices and concepts in order to experiment with alternative ways to organize our society.

End of the Acrata project

from acratabxl

The anarchist library Acrata opened its doors in 2008. At the time, a text presented it not only as a “space for meetings and discussions”, but also as an “instrument to sharpen our knowledge and to find solid bases to confront domination”. [...] Today, the library is closing its doors and it is not without a touch of nostalgia that we remember all the discussions, film presentations, exhibitions and other apéros or solidarity meals that took place there. At the moment of putting an end to the adventure that this space has been, we wanted to thank all those with whom we have been able to share these beautiful moments, as well as the sometimes more difficult moments.

About the sentence against anarchists in November 2020

via Enough 14

Starting in 2008, the Belgian State carried out a large investigation aiming at different struggles that were in conflict with detention centres, borders, prisons and the world of authority and exploitation – always without concessions. In its sights: the anarchist library Acrata, anarchist and anti-authoritarian publications (Hors Service, La Cavale and Tout doit partir), dozens of flyers and posters, more than a hundred actions, attacks and acts of sabotage…in other words, the fight against Power in all its different expressions.

The one spectacle that continues despite viruses and lockdowns

Belgium: ‘The one spectacle that continues despite viruses and lockdowns’

While the cultural sector is still debating social distancing restrictions with whatever politician appears to be in charge, one venue keeps on hosting its spectacles in spite of everyone. So we are disgusted to announce to you the upcoming theatrical performance taking place on the 8th and 9th of October 2020 in the Palais de Justice in Brussels (that Moloch built on top of the proletarian Marolles and adored by many authoritarians for its oppressive bombast).
