Anarchism in the Mainstream

From Organise Magazine

In March 2020, when the virus raged across the globe but before we in the UK realised how serious and tragically lethal it would become or how much of a long-term problem it would be, Freedom Press published its first Covid-related update on its news site. Titled *Covid Mutual Aid Groups: A List,* the text came out ten days before the first UK lockdown and stated:

"As the global Covid-19 pandemic is upon us, a number of mutual aid groups have started forming across the country. (...) It is estimated that 2-3 people out of a hundred [infected by Covid] will die. We must do everything we can to prevent this from happening. (...) The Tory government is apparently more concerned with making sure the economy won't collapse than with saving people's lives. (...) Remember: that old lady you see on your grocery shopping and that comrade you know who is suffering from a long-term illness: it is your job to protect them as much as you can."

Clarissa Rogers Rest in Power!

From Sachio Takashima (facebook)

Two years ago, due to long Covid, Clarissa fell into a coma. She awoke, but with no memories. She later described this time as akin to a process of writing a detective novel of her own life. She started to remember in bits and pieces... She remembered she’s a working class anarchist, involved in supporting workplace struggles, and the struggle against racism, and ultimately found out that she's involved in the world’s oldest Anarchist International! Perhaps most meaningfully, her detective skills revealed a whole community across the country, and around the world that supports her and adores her.

Expectations vs. Reality – A personal reflection and response to a recent post

From Rose City Counter-info

If the authors of this piece were so concerned the anarchist fair held this weekend was “organized by anti maskers”, I think that actually seeing the event, even just for a bit, would’ve alleviated their fears.

No "End" In Sight: On Cultivating Conflict with a World of Pandemics

It is currently September of 2023. Depending on who you ask we are either rounding out our fourth calendar year of a global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a year or two removed from the ending of that global pandemic, or (for the most conspiratorially minded) over three years removed from a grand hoax that was so well orchestrated that it managed to kill 1.14 million (and counting) of our loved ones in the so-called United States alone. Much has changed over the last four years, but much more has stayed the same.

St-Imier, we have a problem

Was #Anarchy2023 hijacked by libertarians and worse?

A newly published article analyses many of the libertarian, ableist, technophile, new age etc. workshops to be held at the International Anti-Authoritarian Gathering, July 19 – 23 2023 in St-Imier...

Anarchists and the Convoy 2022 Protests

From Aotearoa Workers’ Solidarity Movement (AWSM)

By Pink Panther

They call it Freedom Convoy 2022.

They claim it’s all about freedom.

A mishmash of groups who are fighting for contradictory “freedoms” have been camped in and around the New Zealand Parliament in Wellington since February 6th.

Against the Liberal Creep: We Keep Us Dangerous

It is the responsibility of free men to trust and to celebrate what is constant—birth, struggle, and death are constant, and so is love, though we may not always think so—and to apprehend the nature of change, to be able and willing to change. I speak of change not on the surface but in the depths—change in the sense of renewal.

But renewal becomes impossible if one supposes things to be constant that are not—safety, for example, or money, or power. One clings then to chimeras, by which one can only be betrayed, and the entire hope—the entire possibility—of freedom disappears.

TOTW: Anarchist Anti-Vaxxers

Where this concentration of control will go is uncertain, there are certainly not-totally-coocoo-crazy visions of vaccine passports and unvaccinated fines but, these systems move slowly and in another year perhaps the seemingly unstoppable nature of Covid will have eroded enough vaccine-trust that this won’t be an issue.

Some, however, are not waiting for that erosion of trust to happen on its own.

The Growing Anti-Curfew Movement in Quebec

THE GROWING ANTI-CURFEW MOVEMENT IN QUEBEC

A new anti-lock-down movement is emerging in Quebec.

In Montreal, anarchists and other radical Leftists have begun to protest the draconian curfew law which essentially has put the entire province of Quebec on house arrest. The first demonstration was held in the neighbourhood of Hochelaga. A report-back can be found here: https://mtlcounterinfo.org/anti-curfew-march-reportback/

Eric in Quarantine with COVID and Mail Ban TEMPORARILY Lifted

From supportericking.org

On the 27th Eric and 95 other prisoners tested positive at FCI Englewood. Per a letter from the 22nd it seems that someone in Erics unit had been sick for 6 days and was not tested or isolated from even his cellmate. Despite the fact Englewood has had a rapid screen machine since may per FOIA documents.
