Existence 2/2025: 30 years of the Anarchist Federation

From Anarchistická federace
October 16, 2025

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of our anarchist federation. Naturally, we didn’t hesitate to make this milestone the central theme of the autumn issue of the anarchist revue Existence. Such an anniversary offers a valuable opportunity not only for reflection and reminiscence, but also for drawing important lessons.

Jan Tesar (1933–2025)

From Anarchistická federace

A tireless fighter for equality, freedom and mutual aid, a lifelong fighter against authoritarianism and compromise, died on Monday, June 16. He was 92 years old. The books of historian Jan Tesař are unique. And all personal meetings with Jan Tesař were unforgettable. His firm determination not to give in to the ruthlessness of the powerful was admirable and his enormous energy in the fight for a just world was very inspiring, it was literally contagious.

Prague: Anarchist Book Party

From Anarchistické federace

Report from a scaled-down winter version of the anarchist book festival

Last year, the Anarchist Book Festival collective , in addition to its flagship event in May, also organized a smaller meeting in early December . This was met with enormous interest and there was almost no movement in the then-closing Prostor39. Since the idea of a “winter bookfair” was so popular, the collective decided to repeat it in 2024 and organized an “Anarchist Book Party” on Saturday, December 7.

Pirates – the end of an illusion

From Ostrava Anarchist Federation

The Czech Pirate Party, which until recently held the hopes of some reformist anarchists, has ended up in the dustbin of history. What lessons can we learn from this?

As a collective of the Ostrava Anarchist Federation, we have long opposed the tendencies of some leftists and anti-capitalists who saw potential in cooperation with the state and capitalism . The words of the Pirate Vice President about “infiltration of the system” already sounded funny back then, and when the Czech Pirates succeeded in the parliamentary elections, it was clear to us how it would turn out.

Existence # 2/2024

From Anarchistická federace
November 8, 2024

The autumn issue of Existence magazine was dedicated to the topic of anarchist pedagogy. After 20 years, we are once again trying to stir up a discussion about the relationship between anarchism and education. We consider this topic to be somewhat neglected, so we decided to look at it from the ground up.

[AW2024] Report from Prague

From Třídní Válka

About the Action Week and Anti-War Congress / Prague / May 20-26, 2024 /“Together against capitalist wars and capitalist peace.”

First brief attempt of balance sheet of an experience full of promises… but that turned out to be an organizational fiasco

First, let’s set the scene. It was an autumn evening, we were several comrades gathered around a table, enjoying a few dishes that had been simmering for hours, savoring a few local beers or other non-alcoholic beverages (according to everyone’s tastes and choices), and we were chatting away about the last developments in the war in the Ukraine, about the events in Israel and Gaza, and more prosaically, about the increasingly marked course towards generalized war.

Czechia: We will not be intimidated!

From Anarchistická federace
September 10, 2024

In June, two spaces - one closely associated with anti-authoritarian action, the other connected to it only by a single event (namely the Trhlina infoshop and the Žižkostel community centre) - received explicit threats of arson attack, accompanied by the throwing of objects and messages clearly indicating arsonist intent. The threats were then accompanied by an emailed list of conditions based partly on anti-Ukrainian fabrications, partly on (dogmatic) formulations so general that their fulfilment would mean the end of basically all of the activities of the victims.
