Green anarchy, or anti-civilization (anti-civ), is an anti-left (often, though less accurately, described as post-left) current within anarchist thought that differs fundamentally from programmatic traditions such as anarcho-communism and anarcho-syndicalism.

There was a world in which I was tempted to be charitable to the author of "Good Night Eurocentric Pride". The article in Tinderbox #9 which it is criticizing certainly had a limitation. On the one hand, it calls us towards a profoundly difficult task: to separate ourselves from the heavy legacy of organized confusion in which revolt has been conflated with its enemies.

A core principle of anarchism is rejection of nationalism. The view is derived from the principle that nationalism is a false ideology that divides the working classes or suppresses individual expression. But it is easier to levy critiques of dominant nations than oppressed ones. This question is not as irrelevant as many assume: it is dismissed as “it isn’t the 60s anymore” and “irrelevant for anarchists.” Palestine, Ireland, North American Land Back, Euskadi, and other movements for liberation continue. Palestine is obviously the most prominent and anarchists cannot afford to ignore it, whether from a revolutionary practice or a purely analytical perspective. But despite that, anarchists cannot just “go along” with the popular ideas of the times and must think for themselves. How can we engage in these struggles while also being honest about the logical outcome of nationalism, i.e. new states?

The split in the anarchist movement between antimilitarists and Natopolitan Anarchists has grown deeper since February 2022. The Natopolitans continue to support the arming of the Ukrainian state, the escalation of hostilities, both in weapons and in scale, despite the numbers of dead Ukrainians, regardless of the threat of nuclear conflict, regardless of the reality of this war and its unending suffering meted out on the working class of Ukraine. In doing so, they are waging war on anarchism, here, over there and everywhere.

To the individuals who wrote the theses on “anti-tiqqunism”, we don’t want to spend a lot of time on you, because there’s better things we could all be doing like actually defending the forest, and we are glad some French comrades who have had horrible experiences with appelistes (the French tiqqunists who sold out anarchists at the Zad in order to negotiate for state-sanctioned land projects) got to you first on here. We hope people check out the links they shared about the history of the Zad, in reading these pieces we see familiar parallels to the specific ways militants have already been fucked over in Atlanta.
