Candice Alicia King 1984-2025

From Eugene Weekly

"I always introduced her as ‘the most radical person I know,’” says Antonio Gisbert, one of Candice King’s coworkers at Homes for Good and a fellow drafter of the Oregon Rebate Plan. “Like, the good sense of the word ‘radical.’”

He also called her “a force of nature,” which is a phrase many of her friends echoed to describe her. Other words and phrases that friends, neighbors and family used to articulate King to Eugene Weekly were “activist,” “anarchist,” “passionate” and “compass.” They also say she was “one of the most sophisticated thinkers I know,” “a brilliant, bright star who was always burning in a lot of different directions at the same time,” and “a revolutionary.”

Brooklyn (NY): Skull Squat defense ongoing

From Squat!net
December 23, 2023

For the past week, squatters and friends have defended Skull Squat in Brooklyn from shady developers and their goons attempting to break-in, lock out residents, and demolish the building. After forcing entry three days in a row with hammers and angle grinders, the developers have been turned away for the past two days by dozens of punks, anarchists, neighbors, and friends. The building has been squatted for six months by six black, brown, and white transgender anarchists.

Montreuil: La Baudrière under eviction threat from august 21st

From squat.net

La Baudrière is an anarcha-feminist queer* squat that opened in November 2021 in Montreuil (a city located in Paris’ suburbs). A lot of people meet here, they come for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks. They came there to live, to learn, to party, to organize. La Baudrière is full of their memories. Now, eviction is looming, and for us, who use this place in so many different ways, it is time for us to defend this space.

THE FIGHT FOR LÜTZERATH AGAINST RWE

From Unoffensive animal

German (and worldwide) activists have fought this before, and are doing it again. RWE, one of the dirtiest energy companies in Europe, is unsurprisingly attempting to expand their lignite mining operations and having to face the fierce opposition of anarchist resistance against the destruction of the earth.

Netherlands: De Samenscholing must stay!

On October 31st, 2022, the city government of The Hague wants to evict and close social and cultural center De Samenscholing. For more than 6 years, De Samenscholing - which originated in squatted free space De Vloek - has been offering space to many initiatives in Moerwijk. These initiatives include a free shop, the oldest vegan restaurant in the Netherlands: Water & Brood, a concert hall, a recording studio, an anarchist library, various workshops, and many more.
