Upstate Anarchist Book Fair report back

From SHH! THIS IS A LIBRARY! by Rocinante

A brief, yet triumphant report back from the first annual Upstate New York Anarchist Book Fair[1].

It was organized by and held at the PM Press space with help from Riot Act Books. PM Press recently moved their warehouse to Binghamton, New York, which is a Leatherstocking city in the southern tier of what has come to be known as New York, along the lines of the Rust Belt, sitting just outside of the Burned Over District, in the lands of the Onondaga, as the rivers of the Susquehanna and Chenango meet in present day downtown Binghamton.

Anarchists in the CNT Congress

From A las barricadas by Acratosaurio rex, English translation by Anarchist News

I think anarchists, before resorting to gathering for the sake of gathering, which is like an ethnic and very prehistoric thing (searching for anarchists just because they’re anarchists), should make an analysis of their local reality, look for a concrete objective (susceptible to broadening and modifying), and based on that, look for people with common interests to launch the attack.

TOTW: Gatherings

A whole lot of years ago I went to the North American Anarchist Gathering in Lawrence, Kansas. While I had been to anarchist assemblies and teach-ins locally, this was the first large and non-regional, but explicitly anarchist event I ever went to. Being from the west coast, it was interesting to encounter anarchists from other parts of the country (this was 2002, before the internet is what it is today).
