Community organizer hosts "Ask an Anarchist" event

MANKATO — Wine, pizza and organizing. That’s what was on tap at a community-hosted gathering at the Wine Cafe Friday night.

Cameron Kennedy, a Minneapolis-based activist originally from Mankato, took to the bar’s patio to host Ask an Anarchist, an open discussion about Operation Metro Surge, Kennedy’s experience as an anarchist and how people in Mankato can engage in community-oriented activism.

Were there anarchists in the riot? Out of any political tendency, the anarchists went the hardest, but they were still a small minority. And they weren’t relevant “as anarchists.” The starting point should be what the people in the street that are fucking shit up want to do. It hasn’t been anarchist politics that has pushed people to be confrontational with the State.
