Celebrate with Fire

From MTL Counterinfo

Friday January 10 2025

Cameras were blocked, tactics practiced and sharpened, trust and affinity were built and clarified. Taking advantage of these dark and long nights, a festive crew piled up some scavenged Christmas trees, blocking the CN tracks on the property of Ray-Mont Logistics in Hochelaga’s Terrain Vague.

How We Stormed Concordia University

Full title: How We Stormed Concordia University: De-arresting, Painting, Shutting Down Classes and Exams

On November 21st, over 85,000 students across Quebec were on strike demanding their academic institutions align with the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, drop the political suspensions of student activists, and against police on campus — making it possibly one of the biggest strikes for Palestine, outside of the occupied territories, in world history.

Announcing the Return of CONSTELLATION:
An Anarchist Festival in Montréal,

This year felt like an immense success to us. In a little under 2 months, many groups and individuals came together with creative discussions, parties, workshops, film screenings, and more. These events were held at the many anarchist spaces around the city, bringing people together and creating the connections that make our movements so vibrant.

For the Continuity of Montreal’s Oldest Anarchist Space

From diffusionlibertaire.org

Since 1982, 2033-2035 Saint-Laurent Boulevard has been a vital space for anarchism in Montreal (Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang). At the time, activists founded the Association des Espèces d’Espaces Libres et Imaginaires (AEELI) with the goal of acquiring the building that today houses three anarchist projects: the feminist and queer self-managed social space Les Révoltes, the DIRA Library, and the bookstore L’Insoumise. The AEELI’s mission is to spread anarchist ideas, for instance through the development of an anarchist bookstore in Montreal. When the association was founded, the bookstore was named Librairie l’Alternative, which opened its doors in 1977.

Thank You: Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival Comes to an End

From Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival
September 20, 2024

After 18 years of incredible anarchist theatre, the Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival collective has decided to stop producing the festival.

We want to thank all the artists, volunteers, former collective members and the public who attended, for their generous contributions and support.

This was an all-volunteer festival with no government or corporate sponsorship.

Montreal Anarchist Tech Convergence, Sep. 7-8

From Montreal Anarchist Tech Convergence

Join us for the Montreal Anarchist Tech Convergence
The weekend of September 7th and 8th, 2024
In and around Bâtiment 7 Tiohtià:ke (Montreal, Quebec)

Amid the crushing destruction wrought by the sprawling military-industrial complex and the recuperation of the hack by capitalist tech bros, anarchist resistance exists within the cadaverous monster of Leviathan itself.

Call for Proposals – CONSTELLATION: Anarchist Festival in Montréal

CONSTELLATION is seeking event proposals. On Saturday, May 25th, during the tabling event at CÉDA and CCGV, there will be space for both pre-planned and spontaneous activities – order and chaos in equal measure. We aspire not to curate a singular experience but rather to create a space for anarchists to gather, conspire, and share in a multitude of experiences. We’ll provide the space but we need you to fill it!

Invitation to the 2024 Montreal Anarchist Zine Fair

From Montreal Anarchist Zine Fair

Our weapons are courage and beautiful ideas.

Every year in May, the blossoming of spring invites anarchists to reflect upon subversive ideas and practices, from throughout history to present day. Total destruction of all authority is the project that sets our hearts on fire. We are wary of political strategies, and instead propose an anarchy wherein the means and ends are coherent, without waiting for the ‘right moment’, without compromise.

Online Calendar Launch: Constellation Anarchist Festival

We're happy to announce the launch of our online calendar platform, where anyone can publish events as part of Constellation. Simply go to https://constellation.noblogs.org/events/ and follow the link to add an event.

One of our goals for this festival is to decentralize the organizing process. We want all anarchists in the region to feel empowered to make the last weekend of May their own. We strongly believe that more people doing more things will create a more interesting and rebellious weekend.

Call for Tablers - Constellation: Montréal Anarchist Festival

CONSTELLATION will feature a bookfair on Saturday, May 25th, at the CÉDA and CCGV buildings in Parc Vinet (métro Lionel-Groulx). We invite booksellers, zine distros, artists, and makers of other material of interest to anarchists and the anarcho-curious to table at the event. Tabling will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but you can show up as early as 8:30 a.m. for setup.

As organizers of CONSTELLATION, we would like to clarify that we see our role as helping facilitate an anarchist bookfair space, not as content arbiters.
