Report Back: One Year of Baltimore Zine Fest

From Rat Distro

In late winter of 2024 myself and a few friends were working on putting together the first Baltimore Zine Fest. We decided we wanted it to be outdoors, as we had no real venues that we could connect with to host such a radical free event, we landed on Herring Run park. Prior to this myself and others agreed that our anarchist and punk scenes needed a event that wasn’t just a punk show, we needed more community events. I’ve always been inspired by the Anarchist Book Fairs and wanted to replicate a similar experience with BZF but never had the time or energy to organize something like that until last year.

The autonomous demonstration has returned to Philadelphia. On June 10th and June 14th respectively, two self organized autonomous demonstrations were called to fight back against ICE and in solidarity with the rebellion in Los Angeles.

Appropriating the Bookfair: A Reportback from Constellation 2025

From Montreal Counter-Information

We heard you like reportbacks from anarchist festivals; may others from this one follow. May 15th-21st, 2025 in Montreal was the second edition of Constellation. Over seven days, there were book launches, parties, benefit shows, bike rides, a book arpentage, a squatted rave in an abandoned magic store, a barbecue, a barbecue that blocked fascists, a mesh networking day, a radical consent workshop, and more. People attended from across the country, from south of the border, and from overseas, and events consistently saw packed rooms, even when there were five happening at the same time.

A week in the life of a zinester (bookfair, little free libraries…) + Lavender Witch mini-tour

From Echo Zines

Here is a little blogpost with some snippets from my life as a zine maker: things I do that are related to zine-making but also other creative things. It’s just a glimpse, a week from my life, only the things I wanted to share. It starts from the Anarchist Bookfair in Ghent (Belgium) on May 17-18th and ends with a mini-tour of my band Lavender Witch on May 23rd-25th. It all happened in the scope of 9 days so it seemed perfect for a little diary blogpost.

Australia: Reportback from the Kurilpa Anarchist Bookfair

From SE Queensland IWW

Brisbane has a long history of radical/punk zine culture going back decades. Arguably going back to the 1970s with The Saints, 4ZzZfm and that culture of DIY publishing. It is in this spirit that the Kurilpa Anarchist Bookfair was organised. That there has always been numerous zine events and DIY publishing in the city, but this being one of the first in a long time to be labelled “Anarchist”.

West Seattle Anarchist Assembly Reportback

From Puget Sound Anarchists

Responding to the call for neighborhood anarchist assemblies, efforts were undertaken to organize an assembly at Roxhill Park. We spread the word through our personal networks and via flyering around our neck of the woods which in the age of digital organizing, left us uncertain of what to expect when the day arrived.

Austin, TX: 10th Annual NYE Noise Demo

From Austin Autonomedia
January 3, 2025

An anonymous transmission

We did our math wrong last year! This year, the actual 10th annual New Year’s Eve Noise Demo was a blast of sounds and fireworks. A few dozen rowdy rebels marched to the jail with noisemakers, a sound system, and tons of fireworks.

The following was read out before the noise demo started:
