BASTARD Conference 2021

The Berkeley Anarchist Study Group will hold the 2021 BASTARD Conference at 12pm on Saturday, November 13, at The Long Haul Infoshop in Berkeley, CA. BASTARD is an annual gathering of informal, autodidactic conversations and presentations about anarchy. It functions as a forum for participants in the study group as well as guests from around the world to share their interests and pursuits. We took the year off in 2020 for obvious reasons, but we’re back this year for an afternoon of discussions around the theme of Excess.

For 2021, we are joining forces with the Anarchist Bookfair in London to bring together a week-long Antiuniversity Festival from the 4th to the 10th of September and the Anarchist Bookfair in London on the 11th and 12th of September.

Words from Alfredo Cospito

from Malacoda

The following text is the speech of the imprisoned anarchist Alfredo Cospito at the debate on the struggle against nuclear energy held during the initiative “Voi gli date vent’anni, noi gli diamo la parola” (“You give him twenty years, we give him the word”), at Circolaccio Anarchico, in Spoleto, on March 20, 2021.

Workshop: Constructing Anarchisms

from Libertarian Labybrinth

This online workshop combines elements of a traditionally structured survey course and a vehicle for self-study. In some ways, it will resemble a year’s worth of office hours as much as a yearlong seminar. The goal is to make the basic experience—an extended practical crash-course in thinking about anarchist theory and history—available to as many potential participants as possible. It has been constructed with busy people in mind and should be able to carry on despite some ebb and flow in participation

Contribution from 3 anarchists

via Act for freedom now!

Germany, France: Contribution from the 3 anarchists for the event take a place in September 2020 in Marseille.

In September 2020 in Marseille we organized a discussion about the repressive case in Hambourg, that sees three anarchists accused of transporting inflammable materials and preparing different attacks. The arrest took place in July 2019, since then, two of them are imprisoned, while the third comrade has been granted a conditional release. Their trial began in January 2020 and should conclude early November 2020. The event that we organized not only aimed at exchanging information about the repressive operation, but was rather focused on retracing the path of struggle – the interventions, the perspectives, the projects, the publications – with which anarchists in Hambourg deepened social conflictuality over the last ten years. We asked these three comrades to write a contribution for this event, you find it hereunder.
