Welcome to the ninth issue of the Anarchist Review of Books, produced by a collective based in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Baltimore, Berkeley, Chicago, Exarchia, New York, Oakland, and Richmond.
From Blessed is the Flame Newspaper
Original title: The 2nd issue of the anarchist newspaper “Blessed Is The Flame” has been translated in English + call for international collaboration and translation in more languages
The second issue of the insurrectionary / nihilist anarchist newspaper “Blessed Is The Flame”, originally published in 8 July 2024 in Greek, has now been translated in English. By doing so, we hold the ambition that this newspaper can become an international effort, bringing together all the direct action reports, statements and texts of comrades, and news about the struggles of anarchist prisoners that are scattered across the world, divided by language and communication barriers.

Approximately one year ago, Orkanen (The Hurricane) published its first English edition, wherein we attempted to translate a few articles in correspondance with the repressive world of today. Following that publication, surely, we had the intention of completing yet another English edition soon after, but alas, so much to do, and so little time to do it.

We share below, in translation, a text that appears on the portuguese website, Portal Anarquista, marking the one hundredth anniversary of the anarchist newspaper, A Batalha. We do so for the newspaper’s historical significance, as a testimony to a tradition in anarchism of publishing as an intrinsic part of political struggle.
