Claudio Grigolo, Another Loss for the Libertarian Movement in Ticino

From Umanità Nova

A music lover, always torn between Fugazi and Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, he knew how to make the Circle a place of conviviality through his presence, as well as a space for documentation, research, protest, construction, and resistance. Remembering his youthful commitment to environmentalism in ecological organizations, he accompanied comrade Marco Camenisch with extreme generosity through his struggles and imprisonment.

Diamond Dave Whitaker, Rest in Power Brother!

From libcom.org
March 7, 2026

The first time I ever saw "Diamond" Dave Whitaker, he was wearing this ratty-assed army style olive jacket with a huge round patch on the back with a peace sign, with a rainbow hued tie-dye background, at the top announcing "Four Generations of Hipstory,” with four words around the outside: BEAT, HIPPIE, PUNK, SKINS. He took a lot of shit for that last one, so he always qualified it by saying he aligned with SHARP = Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice.

Ali Touati (1953 - 2025)

From CIRA of Marseille
February 2026

Ali dropped out of high school after his sophomore year. Close to libertarian ideas, he became involved at a very young age in the anarchist group in Pré-Saint-Gervais, where he met Georges Darbois, May Picqueray, José Morato, and Montsé Turtos. In the mid-1970s, he helped support the bookstore Le Jargon Libre, founded by Helyette Bess and Gilbert Roth on Rue de la Reine-Blanche in the 13th arrondissement. He was also part of the anarchist magazine Commune libre.

Mariano Dolci, the Poet of Puppets and Freedom

From Retroguardia 3.0

Mariano Dolci belongs to the history of unique figures. The multiplicity of artistic fields inhabited by this intellectual made him a multifaceted figure, difficult for those who love to categorize. In reality, his work had a guiding star, to which Dolci devoted his entire life, an intense "poetic" activity fueled by a humanistic vision. Indeed, with "the weapons of poetry," he would soon traverse the history of our country, just as Pasolini himself, using the same tools but often in different ways, continued to undertake until his tragic end.

From Biblioteca Anarchica L'idea

On the morning of September 17, 1983, a firefight occurred in Milan with the occupants of a passenger car. The driver was killed, a companion managed to escape only to be arrested, and a woman managed to lose her trail. Investigators later claimed that the woman was Gabriella and searched everywhere for her to no avail.

Gianpiero Bottinelli (1946-2025)

From Umanità Nova

A few days after his 79th birthday, long-time partner and friend Gianpiero Bottinelli passed away at his home. After completing an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk, in 1970 he moved with his family to Lausanne to obtain a diploma in social work, a profession he would pursue until retirement. In Lausanne, he attended and participated in the activities of the International Centre for Research on Anarchism (CIRA), where he met Marie-Christine Mikhaïlo and Marianne Enckell. In 1972, he was among the organizers of the commemoration of the Anti-Authoritarian International in Saint-Imier.

Farewell, comrade! Frank Fernández

Farewell, comrade!

Last Sunday, January 18, just as the sky was beginning to darken, our beloved comrade Francisco Fernández (1932-2026) passed away. Paco, to his family and close friends. Frank, in the avatars of the struggle of the anarchist camps against authoritarianism, fear, and exile. He died as a result of a pernicious infection that forced him to be rushed to the intensive care unit at a hospital in South Florida. He always maintained that Anarchy was nothing more than the constant struggle for life. Consequently, he remained in that battle until his last breath. At the age of 92, his vital organs ceased to function, which is why he was disconnected from all mechanical support and transferred to «palliative care». Incredibly, with the almost stubborn attitude that characterized him, his tremendous physical strength allowed him to fight death for 72 hours.
