Squatting in Defense of Queer Autonomy

Squatting in Defense of Queer Autonomy

From AntiDote Zine, Your friendly neighborhood anarchists since 2013

AntiNote: With permission from our comrades in Montreuil, we present two recent blog posts from La Baudrière, a queer-feminist squat that was valiantly defended and ultimately evicted this past week. While we mourn the loss of this stronghold of joyous queer life and resistance, we celebrate all of the possibilities that La Baudrière has opened up for young queer anarchists and the solidarity networks they have built across struggles more broadly. We present their call to defend the squat, as well as their update on the eviction, as a means to uplift and applaud their fight for queer autonomy. Their words stoke a fire in our hearts that inspire us to imagine a more liberated future, where free time, good snacks, and feeling safe enough to make mistakes are just a part of life, for all of us.

Montreuil: La Baudrière under eviction threat from august 21st

From squat.net

La Baudrière is an anarcha-feminist queer* squat that opened in November 2021 in Montreuil (a city located in Paris’ suburbs). A lot of people meet here, they come for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks. They came there to live, to learn, to party, to organize. La Baudrière is full of their memories. Now, eviction is looming, and for us, who use this place in so many different ways, it is time for us to defend this space.

“Fuck the bosses:” evictions exceeded by new occupations by Autonomous Shelter Network

crowbar & boltcutters are must-haves

from Freedom News UK

The eviction of the winter shelter on Gray’s Inn Road on April 7th and 2 other longer-lasting squats in London have lead to approximately 5 more locations being opened and brought back into use by houseless and precarious persons to provide food, clothes and shelter within our community. The disused buildings were occupied and activated by mixed collectives of former rough sleepers, anarchists from the NFA Queer Punx, Amsterdam-based Anarcha-Feminist Group, and members of Resist Anti-Trespass.

“Don’t worry, we’re autonomous”. Winter shelter evicted

from squat.net

Around 30 people have been evicted from an autonomously organised shelter in North London. At 9am on Thursday 7th April agents of the National Eviction Team and notorious eviction magnate Andrew Marsh, smashed their way through barricades to enforce a High Court writ despite repeated attempts by the occupiers to enter into dialogue with the property’s owners, OneHousing, to negotiate a peaceful and orderly handover.

In solidarity with Syrena collective (Warsaw, Poland) from Rojava

received by email

With rage we have learned about patriarchal violence once again destroying our homes and communities – this time taking the shape of an attack on Syrena social center in Warsaw made by the hands of a neighboring squat inhabitants on December 5th 2021 (more info: syrena.org/en). We find it even more shameful, as it happens in the heart of our struggle, and is directed to our comrades from inside of the anarchist movement they belong to, a movement that many of us here in Rojava (North-East Syria) come from.

Liebig34 is evicted

Berlin: Liebig34 is evicted. Call for day X demo 09.10.20

It feels incredible to type these words into the keys: The Liebig34 is cleared.
At 7:00 a.m. Robocops started sawing and flexing fences, doors, windows and barricades and at 11:00 a.m. the last inhabitants* of the Liebig34 were dragged out of the rooms. We are sad. We are crying. We are exhausted. WE ARE ANGRY.

2 excavators torched, Defend Liebig34!

Berlin: Two excavators torched on Implenia construction site – defend Liebig34!

On October 9, the Anarcha-Queer Feminist House Project at Liebig Strasse 34 is to be evacuated. Another eviction that joins a long list of forced evictions and displacement processes of recent years, which are always enforced with all violence and political will, no matter what government. Just like the “Schwarzer Kanal” car park, which resided on the banks of the Spree on Michaelkirchstraße until 2010.
