What we did last year

From Active Distribution

Boy do I suck at this “keeping social media up to date” lark! Anyway here’s a quick resume of what we published in the second half of 2025.

We started what hopefully will be a whole bunch of books looking at the black anarchist experience with two pocket books featuring Ashanti Alston and William C.Anderson in Black Anarchist Futures and Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin, JoNina Abron-Ervin and Modibo Kadalie in Black Anarchist Legacies.

Iran: 3 Reports of the Killing of Thousands of People

From Anarchist Front (telegram)
January 13, 2026

Today is the seventeenth day of the revolutionary protests by the people in Iran and the sixth day of a total nationwide internet blackout. According to an unimaginable report on the number of people killed in the war of the Islamic regime, fully armed, against unarmed citizens, we received the following messages. Due to the internet shutdown, this news cannot be independently verified from multiple sources.

Iran: Reports from the Last 5 Days of Nationwide Protests

From Anarchist Perspective

The fact that the uprising has lasted more than eleven days is itself a sign of a fundamental change. In previous uprisings, the regime was able to break the tide with rapid and focused repression, but this time the geographical dispersion and tactical diversity (from strikes to direct clashes) have not allowed for full control. With each passing day, the cost of repression for the regime is becoming heavier; not only in human terms, but also in terms of legitimacy and internal cohesion.

Iran: Reports from Days 5 & 6 of the Nationwide Protests

From Anarchist Perspective

Six days have passed since the beginning of this wave of protests, and today, January 3, 2026, the intensity and scope of the clashes in several cities showed that the regime, with all its means of repression... has not been able to clear the streets. Gatherings continued in Tehran, Karaj, Shiraz, Mashhad, Tabriz, Qom, Hamedan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Shahrekord, Yazd, Qazvin, Arak, Bushehr, Babol, Anzali, Khorramabad, Aligudarz, Ramhormoz, and dozens of smaller cities. Protesters built barricades, seized security forces motorbikes, burned regime propaganda banners, stormed police stations...

Statement of the Anarchist Front in support of popular strikes in Iran

From Anarchist Front

The continuous devaluation of the currency in Iran is not simply an economic crisis, but rather a sign of the collapse of a political-economic order that has eroded and destabilized social life in favor of the accumulation of power and rent. The devaluation of the currency has directly led to the organized transfer of poverty, insecurity, and instability to the lower and middle classes, turning everyday life into a battle for survival.

Marius Mason Update

From Anarchist Agency by Panagioti Tsolkas, art by Marius Mason

This update on political prisoner Marius Mason is published by Agency in collaboration with Fifth Estate Magazine.

Earlier this year, Marius Mason — an anarchist, environmental and animal rights activist, vegan, artist, and trans advocate — was denied his scheduled gender affirming surgery by the Trump administration and transferred to a women’s prison. The Republican candidate’s campaign spent $27 million on ads condemning gender affirming care for prisoners and the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) quickly remanded those detained back to prisons corresponding to the gender they were assigned at birth.

From Distinctively Dionysian

Bonjour, amis. Apologies for the lack of updates in this space—je suis occupée! I’m not sure what happened, but we’ve gained a wave of lovely new correspondents and subscribers.

Update and Joint Statement From Peppy and Krystal

From Anarchist Black Cross Federation

On Monday, January 6, with roughly 40 supporters of Pep and Krystal packing the room, Judge Nicholas Ranjan heard arguments from the prosecution and the defense, and a Victim Impact Statement read by a University of Pittsburgh police officer. Ranjan then agreed to the non-cooperating stipulated plea and sentenced the two.
