From Against the Grain, Anarchist Firebrand
Perhaps best known for his advocacy of “propaganda by the deed,” Johann Most (1846-1906) was a committed socialist before turning toward anarchism. What spurred that shift? Why did Most advocate violence – and later abandon that position? Tom Goyens is writing a biography of the fiery orator and influential editor who immigrated to the U.S. in 1882. Ad portrayed as something worth a read. Allow me to tldr. Most is a badass that Goldman, a constant opportunist more concerned about celebrity than reality, dated then whipped for no good reason. Most is the best author of anarchy in the 19th and early 20th and his position is one that all anarchists should adopt. Propaganda of the deed, aka direct action; is the best praxis dismissed by the moderate left and twisted by pro-slavery leftists like any socialist party. If you want to clean the slate Most does the most. Give that boy the respect he deserves and fuck the hatters.
