15 Newer Hardcore Punk Records from Indonesia to Set Cops on Fire

From DIY Conspiracy

Amidst record inflation and police killings of civilians, Indonesia's punk scene has taken a militant, insurrectionary stance.

Tensions exploded again in the summer of 2025 after the government approved a scandalous housing allowance ten times the minimum wage. As if that weren’t enough, an armored police vehicle ran down and killed Affan Kurniawan, a 21-year-old motorbike taxi driver, last Thursday. That night, the riots intensified. Police stations were attacked. Members of punk bands were in the streets...

Rafts in Troubled Waters: Anarchism, Anti-Immigrant Protest, and the Rise of Reform UK

From The Slow Burning Fuse and written by Wyatt E. Jones

Every system in decline leaves wreckage in its wake. When the state fails to provide for basic needs, such as housing, health care, security, dignity then people improvise. They lash together whatever scraps remain of political traditions, cultural myths, and collective memory, hoping to build something that floats. These makeshift vessels are what we might call rafts of resistance. They are provisional, fragile, and often contradictory. Some rafts are built for survival; others for conquest. Some set out toward freedom, others drift back toward authoritarian shores.

John Englart, 1955-2025: A life of honesty, integrity and social conscience

From Brunswick Voice

Much of John’s life from 1975 to 1990 revolved around the Anarchist movement in Sydney.  His experience in the short-lived Federation of Australian Anarchists cemented in him a determination to do Anarchism differently.  Accordingly, in 1977 he was a founding member of Jura Books, now Sydney’s longest running Anarchist bookshop.  Differences within the collective led to a split in 1982, with John amongst those leaving to establish the Redfern Black Rose Anarchist Bookshop.  Out of those experiences, John learnt much about working with people in a collective and egalitarian way.

No Gods No Masters – Why Atheism and Anarchism Are a Good Fit

From The Polar Blast - Anarchist Class War News & Views for Aotearoa

Atheism and anarchism are distinct positions, yet their intellectual and political trajectories have long intersected. Atheism, defined as the rejection of belief in gods or divine authority, represents a refusal to submit to transcendent powers. Anarchism, defined as the opposition to unjustified hierarchy and the advocacy of stateless, non-hierarchical social organisation, represents a refusal to submit to earthly rulers. Both challenge authority, obedience, and domination, albeit in different registers.

June, Midlands UK.

A crowbar to the door and we were in. Our torches illuminated rows of caged hens cramped together. It stunk, there were no windows, these birds never get to see the sunlight. The whole barn was full of dust, shit and cobwebs, the air felt thick. This is the reality behind so many inconspicuous boxes of eggs.
